New Zealand’s Northern Knights are almost into the tournament main draw after collecting their second win. This evening at Raipur, the Knights thrashed the Lahore Lions by a massive margin of 72 runs.

Half centuries from Skipper Daniel Flynn (53 from 30 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes) and BJ Watling (53 from 37 balls with 7 fours and a six) powered the Knights to 170 for 6 after being put into bat first by Mohammad Hafeez. It was a superb partnership between Flynn and Watling as the Knights were very much on the backfoot at 60 for 3 in the 8th over. For Lahore Lions, Aizaz Cheema was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 35.

In their run chase, Lahore Lions lost the plot very early as Trent Boult and Tim Southee swung the ball beautifully in both the directions. Lahore Lions slipped to 19 for 5 by the 6th over and eventually were bowled out for 98 in 18 overs.

Tim Southee took 3 for 22 in 4 overs while Trent Boult got a couple of wickets for just 12 runs in four overs. Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi chipped in with a couple of wickets as well.
