Dale Steyn took his 5th ten-wicket haul of his career as Pakistan crashed to a heavy 211-run defeat in the opening Test at the Wanderers. Pakistan going into fourth day with six wickets in hand lost them all in a hurry to the second new ball. Not even the overnight pair of Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq had any clue against the second new ball which saw the Pakistanis go down just at the stroke of the originally scheduled Lunch Break.

It took about 30 minutes for SA to breakthrough this morning when Dale Steyn’s late outswinger had a well set Asad Shafiq (56 from 168 balls with 9 fours) nicking him behind to second slip. Two overs later, Misbah-ul-Haq (64 from 167 balls with 11 fours) fended off a nasty lifter from Steyn to the keeper. Wicket Keeper Sarfraz Ahmed looked a lame duck with the bat in this Test match, this time he was bowled trying to make a late decision of leaving a Philander delivery.

Morne Morkel removed Saeed Ajmal (fending off a short ball to the keeper) and Steyn polished off things by having Umar Gul (caught behind in a pull shot) and Junaid Khan (lbw to a skidding inswinger). Pakistan were bowled out for 268 in 100.4 overs. AB de Villiers collected as many as 11 catches in the match while Dale Steyn got the Man of the Match for his 11 for 58.
