Left arm pacer Lonwabo Tsotsobe claimed impressive bowling figures of 10-3-27-4 as Pakistan collapsed from a decent 140 for 2 to 203 all out in the first ODI at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. South Africa had an easy chase after that as they won the match with as many as 63 balls to spare in an 8-wicket win.

It was once again Pakistan winning the toss and batting first as it happened during the T20I Series. Pakistan got a sound platform thanks to a 114-run stand for the second wicket between Mohammad Hafeez (68 from 84 balls with 7 fours) and former Skipper Younis Khan (54 from 75 balls with 2 fours). However, the middle order and the rest of the batting crumbled into pieces and Pakistan were bundled out in 49 overs. Besides Tsotsobe, Langeveldt and Botha picked up two wickets each.

The South Africans had two half centurions as well in Jacques Kallis (66 from 88 balls with 5 fours and a six) and AB de Villiers (51 from 53 balls with 6 fours). The pair sealed the game almost with a 77-run stand for the second wicket. There were unusually two retired hurts from the South African batsmen first with Graeme Smith getting hit on the glove by a Shoaib Akhtar delivery and later on Kallis retiring with cramps.

In the bowling department, Shahid Afridi with 10-0-36-0 and Saeed Ajmal with 10-1-42-2 bowled well for Pakistan. The Man of the Match award went to Lonwabo Tsotsobe.
