Pune Warriors who are making their IPL Debut had an easy 7 wicket win with as many as 41 balls to spare over a weak Kings XI Punjab led by veteran Adam Gilchrist at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Batting first after winning the toss, Kings XI Punjab could not quite recover from the early damage of 9 for 4. They could just get to a slightly respectable total of 112 for 8 thanks to an unbeaten 51 from 43 balls by left handed Ryan McLaren. For Pune Warriors, Alfonso Thomas bowled well taking 2 wickets while left arm pacer Shrikant Wagh got three wickets.
In the run chase, Jesse Ryder provided the momentum for Pune Warriors with his 17-ball 31 while the pair of Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh wrapped up the match inside the 14th over with their attractive cameos.
