England took a little over 20 overs as Pakistan collapsed to 147 all out in their second innings to lose the fourth and final Test by an innings and 225 runs. But what made headlines for the day were serious match fixing allegations on the Pakistani players which were backed up by clinching video evidences! The centre of the storm were pacers Mohammad Amir and Asif who according to a sting operation carried by a News Agency had received payments from a bookie to bowl intentional no-balls at specific periods during the England innings.

The match went on despite all the embarrassment caused to the Pakistani team and the visitors showed no interest in fighting out with the bat. Umar Akmal was the only one who stood his ground though with an attacking unbeaten 79 from 68 balls (with 11 fours and 2 sixes). Graeme Swann captured five wickets to finish with match figures of 9 for 74! Stuart Broad was the Man of the Match while Mohammad Aamer and Jonathan Trott shared the Player of the Series.

Day 3 Report

Pakistan are staring at a certain innings defeat on the fourth day's play at Lord's after losing as many as 14 wickets today! This was after following on once they were bundled out for a cheap 74 in their first innings. The second essay was no better as the visitors got reduced to 41 for 4 with a huge deficit of 331 more runs to wipe. England resuming the third day on 346 for 7 finished at an unbelievable 446 as the overnight pair of Jonathan Trott (184) and Broad (169) stretched their record 8th wicket stand to 332 runs!

The Pakistani first innings lasted only 33 overs with Graeme Swann capturing four wickets in 8 overs once the inroads were provided by the new ball bowlers. Steven Finn picked up three wickets as well. Salman Butt was the top scorer with 26 for the visitors.

Asked to follow on, Pakistan batted out 15.3 overs before rain put an end to their sorrow story of the day. By then they had lost four wickets including that of the big fish - Mohammad Yousuf who fell in what happened to be the last ball of the day's play. All the four bowlers used by Strauss took a wicket each.

Day 2 Report

It really was an amazing second day's play at Lord's with England finishing on top at 346 for 7. And that is simply amazing because they were reduced to 47 for 5 at one stage in the morning session and later to 102 for 7 in the afternoon session! A magnificent rearguard action by no.3 Jonathan Trott and no.9 Stuart Broad bailed England out of jail with an unbroken 8th wicket partnership of 244. Trott has moved efficiently to 149 not out (from 302 balls with 15 fours) while Broad has not only registered a maiden Test hundred but it is also his maiden first class century. He has remained unbeaten on 125 (from 220 balls with 11 fours and a six). Both these players have overshadowed an outstanding 6-wicket haul from Mohammad Amir.
