Australia defeated Pakistan by a comprehensive margin of 34 runs at Gros Islet. Having batted out Pakistan by posting 191 on the board, the Australian bowling and fielding combined brilliantly for the victory. Pakistan like the Aussies were bowled out as well in the allotted 20 overs.

Pakistan had got off to a bad start after losing Kamran Akmal in the first legal delivery of their innings. Soon they were 34 for 3 in the 5th over. Skipper Shahid Afridi joined Misbah-ul-Haq and had put together a brief fightback, a 47-run partnership for the sixth wicket before Afridi played all across a Tait yorker. The Pakistani Skipper made 33 from 24 balls with 3 fours and a six. Misbah-ul-Haq looked good with his hitting, he got 41 from 31 balls with a four and two sixes. Pakistan could finish with a respectable 157 all out though they were well short of the target.

The Aussies held onto the catches nicely and the bowlers were on target often. Opening bowlers Dirk Nannes and Shaun Tait took three wickets each while Johnson picked up two scalps. The Man of the Match was given to Shane Watson for his destructive 81 from 49 balls.
